Working with Local Domestic Violence Programs
OASAS substance abuse programs are strongly encouraged to develop working relationships and/or formal cooperative agreements with their local intimate partner violence providers. Such services exist in every county of New York State. Most intimate partner violence agencies offer a variety of services, including counseling, emergency shelter, safety planning, outreach, case management, crisis intervention and advocacy. Some offer transitional housing. Many have staff who are able to offer free or low-cost services within the substance abuse setting as well, such as educational presentations for patients and seminars for staff on intimate partner violence.
