Exam Information

The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and Prevention (CPP/CPS) examinations are now administered via the computer-based format only. The paper/pencil exam has been eliminated. The computer-based examination is administered by ISO Quality Testing at centers located in Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Flushing, New York City and Syracuse.

Beginning January 1, 2011, the credentialing examinations are being offered on a continuous basis, rather than four times per year. An approved candidate may re-test once every 60 days as long as an active application is on file.

Eligible examination candidates may request an Examination Registration Form by contacting the Credentialing Unit at 1-800-482-9564 (Option #3).

CASAC Exam Resources and Prevention Exam Resources are available.
